The Philippines is a flood-prone country. The researchers
come up with the idea of having a system that monitors the flood level and
sends SMS when water reaches a certain height or level. What makes it more
unique is that it is for barangay official use only. The system sends
notifications via SMS to update the officials about the water level. The idea
of an SMS-based warning system is proposed because mobile phones have become a
popular communication device among people all over the world. All mobile phones
can communicate because it comprises of a GSM. This system acts as an alarm for
responders for possible critical height of flood. The purpose of the system is
to help the barangay Maysilo of Malabon, one of the most flooded regions of
Metro Manila to be notified by the barangay officials and can take actions
immediately to avoid any casualties. There are only a few that have a water
monitoring system and this is a big help for the barangay. It makes it a lot
easier to receive notification from the system rather than go to the place and
monitor the pole where the flood water meter is installed or placed.
